Matthew 5:4 “Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.”
If I should go tomorrow
It would never be goodbye,
For I have left my heart with you,
So don’t you ever cry.
The love that’s deep within me,
Shall reach you from the stars,
You’ll feel it from the heavens,
And it will heal the scars.
What a Life!
Debra Beasley
Debra Lynn Beasley (Deb) was born in Los Angeles California on February 18, 1965 to
proud and loving parents Ruth & Wilbert Beasley. Debra received Christ at an early
age and she was baptized at the Greater Temple Missionary Baptist Church of Los
Angeles.
Deb was naturally gifted. Her academic records from grade school throughout high
school & college were impeccable. She graduated from David Star Jordan High School
in 1983 with honors. She was the only child of ten to graduate in the top ten of her
graduating class. She was one point shy of earning magna cum laude. Debra was
popular & a proud member of various clubs and organizations: the prestigious Ladies
and Knights club, UCLA Upward Bound program, the Pep Squad, Jordan High School
Chorus as well as the Future Nurses club. She was also a member of the California Job
Corps and while in high school, Deb became a Certified Nurse’s Assistant (CNA). Based
on her many academic & vocational achievements, community involvement &
extracurricular activities; Debra received a full Scholarship to Mount Saint Mary’s
University. She also won the Watts Health Foundation scholarship. In honor of
winning the Watts Health scholarship and various other scholarships, her name was
engraved on a plaque that hangs in the boardroom of the Watts Health Foundation.
After college, Debra joined the medical profession. Throughout her thirty-five plus
years in the medical field, she held a variety of job titles and positions. These positions
ranged from CNA, Billing Specialist, and Supervising Admissions Clerk to
Administrative Assistant. Deb enjoyed her career because she was able to do what she
loved to do serve, care and help people. She dedicated most of her life to working in the
medical profession and for more than three decades, her services were in high demand.
Hospitals such as Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, St. Francis Medical Center, and Sunrise
Hospital & University Medical Center would compete for her skills expertise and
services.
Debra was a child of God, a beloved daughter, an amazing Mom, a uniquely talented
sister, a gracious and loving aunt, a fun & exciting cousin and a terrific friend. She was
born with the gift to entertain and make people laugh. At the tender age of five, Deb
would entertain her sibling for hours imitating adults and their unique behaviors and
or conduct. She particularly enjoyed imitating our late aunties Bertha & Jesse Mae.
Unbeknownst to Aunt Jesse Mae, she gave Debra a lot of enjoyable, fun & very
entertaining material to work with.
Debra exemplified & lived a life of love. She loved her Mother Ruth; she loved all her
siblings & their children & she cherished her beautiful daughter. Debra affectionately
referred to herself as the “baby sister”. She would always remind her sisters and
brothers of her “baby sister” status, especially when she wanted to have her way. She
had nine older siblings and though she loved all of them, it is important to note; she
loved her brother Lawrence best! She lovingly referred to her brother as “my
Lawncey”.
Debra enjoyed being a Mom & an amazing aunt! With that being said, be advised, she
was an aunt twenty plus years before becoming a Mom. Her host of nephews and
nieces prepared her for motherhood (you are welcome Amber! LOL). Deb embraced all
her family & friends with love, kindness & unfailing generosity! She would go above
&beyond to help anyone in need.
Debra lived and thoroughly enjoyed every second of life! She lived in three different
states (Texas, Missouri, and California) & learned to appreciate all people. Whether
celebrating herself or someone else, Deb knew how to have a good time! Throughout her
life, she was successful in all endeavors that she undertook and yet, she never bragged
or boasted about her accomplishments, instead; she was humble & appreciative of all of
her life’s experiences. One of Deb’s most joyous & treasured moments in life was giving
birth to her daughter February 06, 1993!
On May 1, 2023 @ 11:14 P.M., Debra Lynn Beasley received her call to glory as her final
race had been won! She gave every breath in her earthly body to loving her daughter
Amber and her entire family. While we are deeply sadden by the sudden loss, we know;
“For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus
will God bring with him” (1 Thessalonians 4:14). Debra will be forever missed and
remembered as a great person, daughter, sister, mom, aunt, cousin, friend & co-worker.
Her mother Ruth Beasley, her father Wilbur Beasley, her sisters, Veronica Ann
Gordon, Lillie Gordon (Mother Susie), Rosemary Saulsberry, and her brothers Gregory
Gordon & Lawrence Gordon preceded Debra in death.
Debra leaves to honor & cherish her precious memories, her daughter Amber Beasley,
three sisters, Patrina Beasley (Mother Sally), Michelle Beasley and Valerie Beasley of
Victorville California, and three brothers: Morris Gordon of New Orleans Louisiana,
Reynard Gordon of Yuma Arizona and Ronald Gordon of Hollywood California, and a
host of Nieces, Nephews, and friends.
