Sunrise: March 26, 1936 Sunset: November 30, 2018

Henry Lee Coates was born March 26, 1931, in Birmingham, Alabama to Roosevelt and Emma Coates. Henry was the oldest of two, he had a younger sister named Pearl.
Henry graduated from high school in Alabama. He marched for our rights alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Henry would share stories with his kids about getting watered down by them strong hoses and the police dogs trying to attack him.
In 1975, Henry, his mother and sister moved to California. Henry then met his wife Catherine in 1976, and on September 11, 1976 they got married. Joining the couple were 8 children and life for them changed. Henry was a hard-working man, he worked from 1976 to 1998 at Ace Hardware Warehouse, which he retired from and they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. Henry just couldn't sit still, so he got a job at Wackenhut Security where he worked there for two years. Henry and Catherine or in his words "Cat" then moved to Moreno Valley, California with their daughter Michelle.
Henry enjoyed cleaning the house on the weekends, watering the plants, recycling his cans, washing his car, and taking Cat to Jack N' the Box every morning. He loved spending time with family, watching his western shows and especially watching "The Lakers"
Henry was a man of few words, but when you actually took the time out to sit down and talk with him, he was a man of wisdom and full of laughs.
