Stephen Osburn Sr, a life filled with adventure, love for family, and dedication to his country, passed away peacefully in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 23rd, 2024.
Born in 1961 in Madrid, Spain, to Martin and Dolores Osburn, Stephen's childhood was a kaleidoscope of cultures and landscapes due to his father's service in the US Air Force. He eventually set root in Lancaster, CA in the late 1970s, graduating from Antelope Valley High School in 1979. His athletic talents in high school led him to briefly play football at USC before he answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the US Air Force in late 1979.
While stationed in Athens, Greece in 1983, Stephen met Litsa, the woman who would become the love of his life. They married in Toronto, Canada on August 4th, 1984, and their growing family welcomed a son, Stephen Jr., born in Biloxi, Mississippi in 1985.
The Air Force continued to shape their lives, taking them to England before Stephen's retirement in 1991. They would move to Las Vegas, Nevada, where Stephen’s parents and siblings all largely resided in; a place they would call home for the rest of Stephen's life.
Stephen leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. He is survived by his devoted wife, Litsa, and their son, Priest Stephen (Lindsey), his siblings Theresa (Ron), Nancy, Katie, and Fred, and the apple of his eye, granddaughter Zoe, whom he showered with endless affection and love. He is preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Dolores, and his brother Martin Jr.
An avid sports fan, Stephen's loyalties were divided between the St. Louis/LA Rams, the New Orleans Saints, and his adopted hometown team, the Vegas Golden Knights. When not cheering on his favorite teams, Stephen could be found “entertaining” friends and family with his jokes and infectious laughter. He was a pillar of St. Paul Orthodox Church, actively involved in the community and found solace in his Orthodox faith.
More than his accomplishments, Stephen will be remembered for the warmth he brought to those around him, his enduring strength with his illness, and his ability to find joy in everyday moments. Stephen Osburn will be deeply missed, but we rejoice that he is with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, sharing in His Glory and waiting for us to join him at the gates of the Kingdom of Heaven.
