December 28, 1950 - November 11, 2020
Harold David Anderson was born December 28, 1950 to Amos Cornelius and Mary Esther Anderson (Kennedy). Although the Anderson family famously hails from Chicago, Illinois, Harold was born during the family vacation in Camden, Mississippi. This alone should have been a sign that Harold's life would turn out to be nothing short of remarkable. Harold would be the third child out of a total of 11. He would go on to self-proclaim himself, "A.C. Anderson's oldest boy and Mary Anderson's Pride & Joy". Growing up on Chicago's westside provided Harold with a colorful childhood that would begin to illustrate his journey through life. Harold loved to tell stories of his youth to any and everybody willing to listen..
Anecdotes ranging from neighborhood tussles to protect his sisters to bouts of heroic athleticism to save the day; Harold loved to reminisce about the early years of his life that played a pivotal role in his upbringing. He graduated from Farragut High School in 1969 and wore that accomplishment with pride; Harold was a very proud admiral. He regularly attended the annual alumni picnic to enjoy the camaraderie of his fellow admirals. Harold would go on to attend the esteemed University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. This was a huge accomplishment and milestone not only for Harold but for the Anderson family as a whole.
Upon graduation in 1973, he became the first member of his family to receive a college education. Throughout college, he played semi-pro softball with his team, The Tumble Inn. Harold was know as "the hitting machine" and easily became one of the league's premier players. He earned All-American honors with the team and created lifelong bonds that would continue for the rest of his life.
Even with Harold's life thus far being a significant success in Illinois, he craved something more. His desire for success and achievement drove him to leave his home state and relocated to Los Angeles, California, in 1973 Naturally gifted with charisma, good looks, and a passion for drama - Harold decided to try his hand in the entertainment industry with dreams and aspirations of becoming an actor. While working many oddball gigs to make ends meet during his acting days, One particular job proved to be more vital than any other one.
While working as a bouncer in 1978 at a popular nightclub, Little J's, Harold met the love of his life , Denise, for the first time. As HDA would have said, " That's all she wrote!"
Harold quickly realized that Denise would be the woman he would marry and start a life with but to do so, he needed to earn money to support a family. It was a no-brainer that he had to stop chasing his acting dreams and find a suitable career to make that goal achievable. Harold would then go on to begin an illustrious career in the insurance industry., landing his first job with Liberty Mutual as a salesman. Finding much success in the industry, he began to settle in and explore the endless opportunities that the sector presented to him.
Involving himself in every aspect from worker's compensation claims management to operations management to marketing and sales. and before retiring WC nurse case management, he was determined to make his name known throughout the business.
Insurance provided Harold with a foundation to start his family with Denise and their first child, Amber. They were married 1983 in front of a small group of friends and family in Las Vegas, Nevada. Family life proved to be everything Harold had hoped for; he was a natural fit for the role of patriarch. After years of being a father of one, HDA decided it was time to bring a new child into the family. In 1989, Harold and Denise welcomed their son, Jason, into the world.
Harold would prove to be an ideal father for both Amber and Jason. His righteous morals and infinite knowledge combined with his natural trait of being a great provider allowed his children to receive a fulfilling and rewarding childhood under his and Denise's care. Both Amber and Jason gave Harold and Denise 3 beautiful grandkids - Paris, Dylan, and Sloan. All of his kids were the apple of his eye. His family's happiness was and remained a top priority. Despite being fully committed to his family. Harold still possessed the time and energy to be a leader in the professional arena.
Embarking on many endeavors throughout his career, including opening a workers compensation training school, Adjuster Academy, HDA would achieve success in much more than the insurance industry. During a hiatus, he went on to work as a government lobbyist for David Cunningham and Associates. Harold enjoyed the path he had been on for 30+ years, but the business world wasn't the only thing he was interested in. He had a deep love for fiction novels, which led to him writing and publishing two crime thriller novels of his own. "Friendly Enterprise" and "Dirty lies in the name of God" were two of Harold's most significant accomplishments. Both books were well received by readers all over the nation.
After a very extensive and successful career, Harold finally decided it was time to retire from the professional world in 2018. Harold and Denise decided to relocate to Las Vegas, Nevada, where they would start a new chapter of their lives together. Little did they know, their new home would quickly become a hotspot for visitors from all over. Without a doubt, Harold loved hosting his friends and family whenever they would come into town. This was nothing new: HDA has and will always be known as a welcoming, entertaining, and caring host for anyone who entered his life. That's just who he was.
